And with those skills come great responsibilities… The simple fact of the matter is, we’re all still learning about how we can use social media, social media marketing jobs, social media advertising services to develop professionally. And that means taking on board all the advice you can get your hands on (from authoritative sources of course):
1: Develop a plan for your content. And be aware that the content you deliver changes in tone and style across different social media platforms. You need the ability to write with plenty of keywords stitched into what you are saying – while remaining interesting, relevant and natural.
2: Focus, focus, focus. When you start a social media search for a new candidate, you necessarily start off with a pretty broad remit – and hone down our search as you go. But those first couple of hours searching the social media for what you need are full of potential for distraction
3: Understand the purpose and place of the social media search. The social media advertising service is just one string to what must be a full bow of recruitment and job advertising possibilities. So yes the social media search is a must have skill – but then so is using the phone and networking in a more traditional way. You can’t conduct all your interviews on social media and you can’t do all your searching for candidates on the network either. Employ a rich and proper mix of recruitment streams or you risk alienating potentially viable candidates.
4: Make sure you understand the differences between different social media platforms. For recruitment purposes, for social media marketing jobs, it is best to stick with LinkedIn – where the professionals are. Yes you can also use Facebook and Twitter – but Twitter only really works to build a buzz if you are lucky, and Facebook recruitment is in my opinion only really suited to specific types of job.
5: So really I am saying, know your position, know your targets and know where to place your social media search so it works to the best effect. There’s no point in doing a Facebook search for a CEO for example – even if you found one, you wouldn’t be taken at all seriously by the candidate, offering work through his or her Facebook page (if CEOs even have Facebook pages!). Horses for courses, and social media streams for different types of searches.
Getting help from professionals in the social media marketing jobs industry is always a good idea. The social media advertising service can help you find talent and advertise jobs using a number of dovetailed techniques – for example beefing up your brand presence and developing more of a distinctive voice for yourself within the relevant business communities.
Learning the etiquette and language helps too. When you communicate in the social network you should be able to understand the locals. That means dedication and starting off small.
